There are scientific research companies, market research, advertising research, product research, exploratory research, and much more. include surveys or give samples to individuals to try out, in order to gather data about the product in question. The research company can get the work done by including others, gather the data, then report the findings to the company they are doing the research for. People who do the surveys or try out the products are compensated with cash, sweepstakes entries, or points that they can later exchange for cash or products, depending on the survey company.

There are some legitimate survey companies online who have been paying individuals for years to do surveys about different products for them. Arthus Nielsen was the first one to begin the research companies. He founded the A. C. Nielsen Center for Marketing Research in 1923. Arthur saw a need and he filled it and became very successful. There have been many more market research companies spring up since then. The companies will research the products they have been hired to research. They will find out all of the pros and cons about the product that they can so the company that hires them can change the characteristics, price, or whatever needs to be done, in order to make a marketable product. The product has to be safe, priced reasonably, and it has to be something that people will need or want.

Other research companies consist of scientists which study and research different ways to fight diseases, cure them, or find ways to prevent them. There is a lot of research being done on cancer, heart disease, diabetes, MS, Alzheimer's and Dementia, and other serious health problems. Stem cell research is a big subject today and scientists feel that stem cell growth may be the answer to a lot of serious diseases such as cancer, and also the ever growing problem of organ transplants. There has always been a shortage for organ transplants and people are dying needlessly at young ages (in many cases) because they need a transplant and were waiting in line for one. Stem cell research is still in it's early stages but there is hope that it will make a big change in people's lives in the near future.
